“Entering the Nascar Cup series is a dream come true,” Legge said in a statement from the team. ‘I am excited to work with Live Fast Motorsports for Phoenix and to represent our sponsors’ droplight and Shertick businesses.

‘Racing Stockcars was an incredibly pleasant and new challenge that gave me a renewed sense of zeal for this sport. As always, I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I love and I am inspired by all the effort, preparation and behind the scenes it takes to get here. “

The last woman to participate in a cup of cup was Danica Patrick, whose final Nascar race was the 2018 Daytona 500. Patrick started a cup from 2012-18 191 and ran into 61 XFinity races from 2010-14. According to NASCAR records, Legge will become the 17th female participating in a cup race.

Legge has started four Indianapolis 500, including the past two years. Her best end point in that race came in 2012 when she was 22nd. She has also competed for 92 IMSA races since 2014, won four times and scored 11 podium finishes.

In January, during Arca testing, she explained her interest in equity races.

“I like stock car racing,” Legge said. “I have been trying it in a Xfinity car for the first time. I’ve always wanted to do more.

‘The opportunity and timing was right. It seems to me that it is the era for me to try new things and get the chance to do some cute things. … really, in the hope that this is the beginning of my career in the car
