The “While We’re Young” singer shared on Thursday that she and she children They lost their home in the fire. “My kids and I went home,” she began, referring to her daughter Namiko, 16, who she shares with ex Orianne, and son Noah, 2, who she shares with longtime partner Big Sean. “It’s burned to the ground with everything we have inside it. Lord have mercy.”
Genet said she was “grateful” for her safety and the safety of her family, but she felt very sad about having to start over “from scratch.”
“My heart is very heavy,” she said. “God bless us all,” Genet added, saying she was praying for everyone affected by the fires.

Eventually, Jhené took to the comments to respond. “The truth that some of you think I have Paris Hilton “Money is wild,” she wrote. “I don’t see it that way.”
Jenny added that it was also tragic that the second fire was in her home after her family’s home burned down when she was a child. “When I was in second grade, our house burned down,” wrote Genet, who was born and raised in Los Angeles. “I never understood why some kids at school were so bad about it, because they thought we were rich when we weren’t. But they thought we were rich because we had love!!”
Genet admitted that while her financial circumstances have certainly improved since then, she also works hard for what she has. “I’m fortunate that I’m in a better situation than I was at that time. I pray that I receive the same amount of blessing that my mother received during that time,” she said. “I work hard for my family.”
