Latest update is on. Jasprit Bumrah He has raised serious concerns over his availability for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Australia Soon in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Jasprit Bumrah is currently under medical observation after being advised to take bed rest at home. Following a grueling Test tour in Australia, the Indian pacer returned home last week, but his back pain is still a concern.
Sources said that Bumrah is expected to report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India India‘s (BCCI) Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. But there is no clarity on when he will visit the Center of Excellence (CoE), jeopardizing his participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
However, Jasprit Bumrah may visit the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru next week, but that entirely depends on his progress. The sources added that the medical staff has asked Bumrah to rest to allow the swelling to subside and to decide the next steps for his recovery and treatment.
For now, the focus is on getting the Indian pacer’s back muscles fully recovered and the swelling reduced before further decisions are made regarding his fitness and future plans. But, if it’s just swelling, Bumrah might be available for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
A source close to the development was quoted by Times of India as saying: “Bumrah is likely to go to the CoE next week, but there is no fixed date as of now. Bed rest at home is recommended to help the muscles recover and reduce swelling. Once this is done, the next step will be confirmed.
With Bumrah currently struggling with back inflammation, Team India’s premier pacer is in no rush to return to action. Given his history of background problems, the BCCI has been warned not to rush back to the cricket field.
The exact cause of the tumor is still unclear, but if it is worse than expected, recovery may take longer and it is being reported that he may miss the 2025 World Cup in Pakistan and Dubai.
The source continued, “Bed rest is not looking good. I hope it’s not high grade disc inflammation or muscle inflammation. The approach should be similar to him – wrap him in cotton wool and save his talent.
So, now the Indian cricket team management and selectors are hoping that Jasprit Bumrah’s back issue should be limited to swelling, as a disc-related problem could further delay his comeback. With a packed calendar including Champions Trophy 2025, IPL 2025 and India’s tour of England, managing India’s packers’ recovery carefully and patiently is crucial.
India have yet to finalize their provisional squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as the national selectors are awaiting the report of the medical team before calling for Bumrah’s inclusion in the 15-man squad. They hope to get a clear picture in the next two days.
