Jason Licht: Teddy Bridge was the next option if Tom Brady did not sign in 2020

TeedDy Bridgewater technically has not signed with Buccaneers yet – although he is on his way to do so.

But if things had succeeded a little differently for several years, Bridgewater was already with Tampa Bay.

General Manager Jason Licht noticed during his press conference on Tuesday that Bridgeter was the team’s plan in 2020 if Tom Brady chose to sign a different team.

“We entered here in 2014 before the draft, perhaps there was a situation where we were taking it if it fell further,” said Licht. As you know, a few years ago, What was behind Chapter No. 2 was. Therefore, we talked about that day on the margin. It has ended with Tom Brady, but now we have Teddy on the list.

“So, you can get everything, not all once.”

Bridge, 32, has recently been with lions over the past two years. But now that Bridgeter will not train at high school, the Bucs team wanted to bring it.

“Maybe even during the summer, we talked about it, and it will be a nice addition to the room,” said Licht. “Good for Baker (Mayfield), an experienced man, clearly he is very smart – high school trainee hell, generally trained hell. But just a good addition, just for a wealth of experience there.”

But even with the presence of bridgewater in the clouds, Licht does not reduce what Kyle Trask brings to the table as QB2.

“We still have some pre -season games to play and all of this,” said Licht. “But at the present time, Kyle is our backup – this is the intention and this is what we hope. But everyone is competing.”

Buccaneers can also maintain three cortresses, although Licht said this still must be determined.
