Professor Frank Warren says Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are “two of the best heavyweights of the 21st century.”
However, that’s hard to believe, as Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) doesn’t have the resume to back up his claim. In fact, the eye test shows that he’s not even among the fifth-best of the division’s current heavyweights.
Tyson was just an overblown, carefully packaged imitation. If you look at Fury’s resume, there’s nothing to suggest he’s in the top 20 heavyweights of this century. Put him up against some of the more talented competitors of this era or past and he falls apart.
If you look back at the start of the 21st century, many heavyweights would have defeated Fury if he had fought them from 2001 to 2012.
21st Century Heavy Scales:
– Vitali Klitschko
– Lennox Lewis
– Wladimir Klitschko: *Young version from 2001 to 2009
– Corey Sanders
– Shannon Briggs
– Martin Buckley
– Moses Etawa
– Joseph Parker
– Zilei Zhang
– Anthony Joshua
– Bakhodir Jalolov
– Daniel Dubois
– Jared Anderson
Rage would have lost to most, if not all, of the heavyweights. You can only guess what South African southpaw Corey Sanders He used to make fury with his left hands. In the year A version of Sanders, who defeated Wladimir in the second round in 2003, was making light work of Fury. He would have left the Gypsy King on the canvas in a pile of broken flesh.
The Gypsy King’s career was sparked by a 2015 win over a washed-up 39-year-old Wladimir, and it wasn’t even a spectacular performance. He shot down the Celtics who shot him. From there, Fury made a gold mine, with a careful match.
Fury’s Best Hits:

“He’s one of the greats, and he and Usyk are two of the best heavyweights in the 21st century, that’s for sure,” Frank Warren told Sky Sports Boxing about Tyson Fury. “Look at their great struggle. Those two fights were both incredible. Regardless of who you think won, they were incredible fights.
“It takes two fighters to make a great fight. Tyson is right up there with the biggest names you can name. He did everything you asked. He has never been on a boring flight. All these battles that you look back on, known battles, were dramatic. “The drama in these fights is amazing,” said Warren, looking a little overboard in his praise of Fury.
