Devin Haney says his 2025 rematch with Ryan Garcia is a priority. He believes he will win on a “level playing field.” He repeatedly mentioned that record in interviews on Saturday as though it had been broken.
It’s clear that Hani sees his rematch with Garcia as a priority for him because he needs it for the following reasons.
Former two-division world champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is still playing the PED card, which he used as an excuse for his loss to Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) last April in Brooklyn, New York.
He might not stop talking about it and he might. Contamination The build-up to a rematch between them to rebuild credibility with the fans who abandoned him.
If Devin constantly brought up Ryan’s positive challenge to Ostarin in every interview, the promotion of the Haney-Garcia 2 rematch would be ugly. Hopefully, Honey won’t stoop to that level of thinking the fans were watching him as the reason he was blown out of the water by Ryan last April. They won’t.
The adjustment
Hani said he met Turki Al-Sheikh in London and prepared a “plan” for 2025. Soft opponent in March before facing Garcia in a rematch.
However, there is a danger if Turki chooses someone who is too good for Hani, because if the fighter has any power, he may fall or get hurt. If Turki wants Hani to enter with a living body, this could be the job for Garcia as they finish what he started.
Devin’s fighting style involves a lot of jabs, frequent grappling and movement. His fights with George Kambossos Jr. and Regis Prograis show Haney’s fighting style to a tee. The way Hani fought the two is his style, and it’s not very exciting to watch, but it’s effective at that level of opposition.
“We don’t know. Turki, sir, has a plan for me, and you guys stay tuned,” Devin Haney said. Restraining ground Asked who he would fight in 2025: “In 2025, these fights (Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez) have to happen. I think they will be, and like I said, I’m excited for 2025.
“Ryan Garcia,” Hani said when asked what his pick for a 2025 fight was.
“There’s no bad blood with Eddie (Hearn). If the opportunity comes and we can work together, then it will. If not, I’ll thank Eddie for everything he’s done for me. He’s put me in a position. He’s given me a chance in the beginning, and I can’t thank him enough,” Haney said.
Macharum promoter Eddie Hearn’s previous bouts for Hani were against these fighters:
– George Kambossos Jr.: 2022
– Joseph Diaz Jr.: 2021
– Jorge Linares: 2021
