French Open: Italians won mixed doubles against Iranian, Vavasori American Townsend, King

The Paris-third-class Italian pair Sarah Irani and Andrea Vavasori defeated the French Open on Thursday to win the Mixed Doubles title in the French Open by the fourth-class American Taylor Townsend and Ivan King-4-6, 6-2.

It was their second major title together after last year’s US Open win. On behalf of Iranian, it was another trophy in Rolend-Garros after the Olympic gold win over women’s doubles with Jasmine Paulini last year.

“Let’s see if we will see you next year,” told Philip-Chatter in the 5-year-old Iranian court in the 2012 French Open Singles Runner-Up.

Townsend had US Open Mixed runner-up with Donald Young last year and won two big women’s double titles.

He thanked King to play with him.

“We’re going back to Wimbledon so we’re going to try it again,” he said.
