Whoever wants to live a long and healthy life wants a magic recipe to reach old age. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy – but there are some things you can do to boost your odds.
“If you want to live longer, improve what you eat and start moving your body more,”“ He said Dr. Linda Sheweyan internist and director of culinary and lifestyle medicine at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco.
But knowing what foods to eat for a longer life can be difficult. Although no one has to be perfect, it’s important to eat “foods in their natural state, such as whole grains, vegetables, fruits, fish, eggs, and nuts,” says Xu. By doing this, we are replacing “ultra-processed foods” in our diet, “such as stable foods that contain refined carbohydrates and high sugars, such as white bread,” she said.
But even when we know which foods are good for us, it can be difficult to find the right balance between healthy options that give us the best chance of living longer — and it’s hard to find sweets that are good for us when we feel like eating them.
