Five Nascar Cup races not to miss in 2025

With the start of the Nascar season, here is a look at five cup races not to miss in 2025.

1. Talladega Playoff Race (October 19 on NBC)

Last year’s event was the middle race in the second round and was an accident of 23 cars.

This year’s race moves to the third round. This means that it will have a direct impact on who – and perhaps not who – is striving for the championship race.

So much can happen in a Superspeedway race and put it so deep in the playoffs, can only contribute to the chaos and drama of Talladega.

Ricky Stenhouse jr. Won last year’s race and knuckled Brad Keselowski by 0.006 seconds. Could this be the difference between a driver advancing to the championship 4 this year?

2. Daytona 500 (February 16 on Fox)

This very expected event rarely does not produce drama and excitement.

The past four years have a first time a winner of Daytona 500: Michael McDowell (2021), Austin Cindric (2022), Ricky Stenhouse jr. (2023) and William Byron (2024).

It will not take long for cars to be at the time at Daytona International Speedway and the Daytona 500 takes the green flag.

Kyle Busch did not win this race. He will have made his 20th attempt to do so. Dale Earnhardt won his only Daytona 500 in his 20th start in 1998.

Denny Hamlin attempts to win his fourth Daytona 500, which would bind him with Cale Yarborough for second place on the All Time List of Daytona 500 victories.

3. Martinsville Playoff Race (October 26 on NBC)

The last race before the championship event had part of fireworks and drama.

Last year’s endpoint saw controversy With some drivers helping William Byron and Christopher Bell, it is based on their manufacturer Alliance and Nascar who has penalized Bell because he drove the wall on the last round in a similar step to Ross Chastain in 2022 to make the championship 4.

Last year, Ryan Blaney Rally also won to win. In 2022, Christopher Bell had to win in Martinsville to secure a place in the championship race and did so.

So much can happen on this track that one never knows what comes next.

4. Phoenix Championship Race (November 2 on NBC)

It all amounts to this race for four drivers. Team Penke has won the championship in Phoenix for the past three years – Joey Logano in 2022 and ’24 and Ryan Blaney in 2023. Hendrick Motorsports drivers won the title before it with Kyle Larson in 2021 and in 2020 Elliott Chase Elliott.

5. Mexico City (June 15 on Prime Video)

Nascar goes internationally with its first point race in the modern era.

The series rushes on the 2,674-Mile roadway, which was home to the 2005-08 XFinity series.

This race can create some interesting storylines. Can Shane van Gisbergen – or another road racingter – get a win to earn a play -off match? Will Hendrick Motorsports continue with its dominance on road courses? Or will anyone else come forward to win this inaugural address?
