San Diego – Last last month The PGA Tour announced this year’s advisory advisory advisory advisory counselor with 16 members, and a group that acts as a Tank for the Membership Committee and Channel Membership Circuit Code.
During normal times, this group is doing their job in relative anonymity, but they are not normal. This was visible with the list of names appointed to this year’s PAC, eight of whom selected membership and eight who selected the players directors on the policy committee.
World no. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler and Max Homes are 16 PAC, which is not a surprise given their status in the game and the Sea Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund, the Ministry of Justice of the Probe in Possible Antitrust Offense and adding private capital to a professional game.
One name on the PAC list, however, pointed out. In his previous 16 years as a tour of Gary Woodland, Gary Woodland never had a great interest in political adoption and goals of circles.
“They asked me what my thoughts continued earlier (PAC) and I never did. This time I asked me and I accepted me,” Woodland said this week on the invitation mediation. “It was the first time I thought they were asked for a purpose. I never refused, but I would ask me about my interest.”
Historically, Woodland was in the majority when it came to the PAC or Policy Committee. For the player at the top of the game, there is a completely understandable desire to focus on the day job. So, why now?
“First, I can physically do it. I haven’t had the opportunity to do this for the last few years. I didn’t have energy. I couldn’t do it with the way I felt” said Woodland, which had surgery in September 2023. Yes Remove benign brain tumor. “Now, I have the ability to do it.
“Secondly, we are currently in a large position. We (tour) continue to be a lot of shit. A lot of changes happen and to be, something, in the room is a beautiful thing. To be a part of the conversation with all the changes that will take good to have your contribution in it. “
Among the “shit” which Drew Woodland is a tour room move to the tour to be more engaged with media partners to improve the broadcast product. In accordance with the players last month Thomas begged his Frat Brothers tour to be more detached.
“We have to do it. With everything that happened in the last few years, the tour was in a heavy place and I mean the painting position in a difficult place,” Woodland said. “I think we can do something to help that picture, we all want to do this, we all want to be better. We all want to be good partners with our sponsors. We all want to work.”
Pace of Play, question as old as tour, also took over as a hot topic with a lot of advice that pours out of fans and social media. Pace of Play was not on the agenda on Monday in Torrey pines for the Pac’s first meeting season, but it’s some forest, and many others, I hope he fights.
“Here’s the deal, I was in a tour of 17 years and it was a question of 17 years. Now discussed much more, but I think that was a question in 17 years,” he said. “With a rating with a TV, I think I think it’s getting a big deal. But I heard nothing, so far, it will speed up to some point that makes it better for grades.
“What people speak about is 15, 20 minutes (faster circles), we still play too long, 15, 20 minutes doesn’t help anything.”
Basically, Woodland wants to be a part of what a tour of becoming, perhaps with Liv Golf, which is owned by the PIF, but historically changes regardless of the negotiations.
“I couldn’t tell you any five years ago who was on board. Now I know who’s on the board and I actually talk to them. Before I had no idea who they were,” he said. “We all understand that tour changes. If that happens, which, you want to have your foot on the door and at least be part of the conversation.”
