With NBA Play that resumes Wednesday, now is a good time to celebrate a round table discussing some questions that will affect fantasy basketball for the rest of the season. Among these is whether or not someone can catch Nikola Jokic on top of fantasy rankings. He, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama have separated from the package. Rotoworld Fantasy Writers, Nick Schlain, Noah Rubin, Rapielle Johnson and Zak Hanshew, offer their thoughts.
Between Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, which player is best equipped to overthrow Nikola Jokic on top of fantasy rankings and why?
Nick Schlain: If someone surpasses Nikola Jokic as the highest fantasy player, I think Victor Wembanyama would be. When you compare Jokic’s numbers with those of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, their numbers are similar, except that Jokic gets many more rebounds and assists. This year, Jokic promoted 10.2 assists per party and 12.6 rebounds, while SGA prommedia 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds. Gilgeous-Alexander promised 32.5 points per game, leading the league, but Jokic improved its marker and is promising a maximum of 29.8 points per game. SGA is also a player established at the age of 26 in his seventh season of the NBA. It is probably close to its peak, while Wembanyama turned 21 in January and is only its second season.
Wemby is not on the same level as the other two in the score; This year has an average of 24.3 points per game. However, it has a massive advantage in the blocks per game with 3.8, which leads the league, and its three three points per game are also better than Jokic and SGA. Wemby’s 11 rebounds per game are also much closer to Jokic’s 12.6 rebounds per game than SGA, although they have less attendance at 3.7 per game. Jokic is an absolute machine, and there is probably no trapping whenever he puts rebounds and assists like this. However, if anyone can do it, it would be Wembanyama to take another step forward next year.
Noah Rubin: Victor Wembanyama. The three players have been at their level about fantasy production this season, but it is the one who has more space to improve. SGA has been elite, but can it be much better than it has already been? It is incredibly efficient for a guard and leads the league to score. Wemby leads the league in blocks and provides elite value in points, rebounds and three points, but it still takes place for growth. Wemby has only played a few games with Aaron Fox, but it should continue to make an easy look. It has a clear way to improve its percentage of field goals, giving -the opportunity to overthrow Jokic.
Rapielle Johnson: As much as I like what SGA has done this season, Wembanyama is my choice because of his blocked shooting category rule. Zak Hanshew: It’s Wemby for me. If SGA does not play at its peak right now, it does not have much room to climb. WEMBBY, on the other hand, is the 2 of the year and has a clear path to improve its fantasy stock if its FG% and FT% are reduced and their income is reduced. An immersion in SGA efficiency (especially as a three -point shooter) would strongly affect its fantastic value. Believe -or not, I think there are more blocks on the table for Wemby. The scarcity of elite numbers in this category provides an unprecedented monstrous impulse in the value of fantasy that can only grow for the Spurs phenom.
