England captain Heather Knight Australia’s women’s Ashes 2025 will be bright despite a challenging road ahead after completing a clean sweep of ODIs.
The 86-run victory in Hobart gave Australia a 6-0 lead in the multi-format series. To win back the Ashes, England must win all the upcoming T20Is and one-off Tests.
“It’s going to be tough.” Knight admitted in a recent interview. “But we’ve been here before. The last Ashes series was 6-0, and we managed to turn things around. We are still alive, we are still in it, and we must keep on believing.
England produced their best performance of the series in Hobart, reducing Australia to 59 for four in the first innings. However, they faltered at crucial moments of the night and ball, allowing the hosts to put up a formidable total. Even though they were level at the halfway point of their chase, England couldn’t capitalize.
“We must calm ourselves.” Knight said. In those key moments when the game was on the line, Australia dealt with them well, but we were unable to capitalize on any advantage.
England’s preparations for the next Ashes include a strategic focus on player fitness.
Kate CrossHe has been rested to avoid aggravating a back injury that was close to playing in Hobart. Cross will now focus on training for the Melbourne Test which starts on January 30 Tammy Beaumont And Rhianna McDonald-Gay. Meanwhile, the rest of the team will turn their attention to the T20Is.
Knight is optimistic about the format change, seeing T20 cricket as England’s forte. “It’s going to be great for us to have a format change.” she said “T20 cricket is one of our best formats, and that little reset will do us some good.”
With renewed focus and confidence, England will aim to turn their fortunes around in the T20I leg of the series, keeping their hopes of winning the Ashes alive.
