Elizabeth Szokol Birds of the first five holes, actions of water in Shoprite LPGA Classic


Galloway, NJ – Elizabeth Szokol bired the first five holes and took 8-under 62 for part of the first round with Ilhee Lee in Shoprite LPGA Classic.

Playing in the afternoon on the Seaview Bay course, Szokol followed her running birds with Bogey on No. 6 and then added birds to no. 8, 9, 13 and 16.

“I’m happy to get down to the great beginning and I really look forward to the weekend,” Szokol said. “A lot of golf is left. Really excited to see good golf and hard work that pays off today.”

The 30-year-old American team is associated with Cheyenne Knight to win 2023 Dow Great Lakes Bay call for his only touring victory.

The most common Nelly Korda was opened with 71, and no. 2 Jedo Thitikul was 68. Maja Stark, American Women’s Open Winner Sunday at Erin Hills, taken 70.

Lee bought three straight holes three times – on no. 3-5, 8-10 and 16-18 – and had one Bogee in the morning round. 36-year-old South Korea won 2013. Clean silk Bahama LPGA Classic for her lonely tour.

“I have no expectations,” Lee said. “I just play golf. I just go out, have fun. That’s all I do.”

Akie Iwai from Japan was third after 65 in one of only two tournaments with 54 holes left on the LPGA Tour Playula. The second is Walmart NW Arkansas open.

“Normally four days, so I feel fast, a shorter tournament,” Iwai said. “That’s why we have to make a lot of birds.”

Wei-Ling Hsu was at 66 with Aline Krauter, Ayaka Frue, Polly Mack, Saki Baba, Dewi Weber and Gurleen Kaur.
