Eddie Hearn: “Hitchins beats Teofimo Lopez”

Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed talks have taken place for a 140 unification bout between Turki Al Sheik and light welterweight champions Richardson Hitchins and Teofimo Lopez. WBO belt holder Tefimo (21-1, 13 KOs) wins next.

Teofimo has signed a three-match deal with Turkey.

Hearn confirms the talks

Hearn is right. Hitchins 100% overpowers Teofimo and makes it easy in the process. This will be an easier win for Hitchins than his win over IBF 140-lb champion Liam Paro on December 7. If Turki wants Teofimo to take three serious fights under his contract, he’s going to lose them all, starting with Richardson.

Teofimo won’t fight Hitchins unless Turki Al Sheik offers him a boatload of money because that’s not his plan to make a strong fight, especially after getting burned in his matches against Jamain Ortiz, Sandor Martin and George Cambossos Jr.

Despair of Kambossos

“George will be back. He’ll be back in Australia, and the plan is to take him straight to Richardson Hitchin. We’ll see what happens if Hitchins fights Lopez, but George is shooting at 147 and we’ll see what happens,” Hearn said.

No one wants to see Kambossos Jr. take on Hitchins for the IBF belt because he has not qualified for a world title in the last three years due to his terrible record. Kambossos is on his way to the status of a journeyman, and his 1-3 record in his last four fights doesn’t qualify him for a title shot. You don’t go into the championship game with that kind of record in any other sport.
