Bristol, Tenn. Nad to see how ties were wearing ties during Saturday’s workout, expects drivers to reflect Sunday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway this past spring’s event, in which Tire Wear creates one of the more memorable racing at this highest half-mile lane.
Last Spring’s race had 16 different leaders and a track record 54 lead changes.
A key factor with the tape wear is that the temperature will be about 60 degrees at the beginning of Sunday’s race. This is similar to the temperature at the beginning of the previous spring’s race. Saturday’s temperature was cooler.
“I think all signs indicate a race like spring,” Alex Bowman, the pole winner, said on Saturday. “We have already started training with rubber on the XFINITY car racetrack and peeled it upright.”
Points -leader William Byron also pointed to the weather as the most important factor.
“I think it’s just because it’s so cold,” Byron told NBC Sports. ‘The Track Temp plays such a big factor. … for whatever reason, it is not rubber.
When asked if he was surprised by what happened on Saturday, Chris Buescher told NBC Sports: “Every time I come to Bristol, it’s a surprise.”
What does Kyle Larson expect? He doesn’t know.
“I wasn’t too surprised earlier today when Cup did exercise as it did,” he said. “But then (Sunday) I won’t be surprised if it’s rubber. I don’t really know what to expect. You must be ready for everything. ‘
Teams have nine sets of tires plus one set that is transferred from the qualification for the 500-Round race. Teams were captured by the tires in the last spring race, so Nascar provided goodyear an extra set of tires for all teams.
No decision was announced whether NASCAR teams would give an extra set of tires for Sunday’s race.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who starts second, has another question in mind for today’s race
“I think the biggest thing is to just make sure we come up with Nascar to know when and how they will shed warnings, because I felt it killed us the last race,” Stenhouse told NBC Sports. “I took care of my tires and guys would go hard and blow them and then deliberately turn and (Nascar) cast a caution, and I could never get my track position.
“Then, the last run, I save my tires, save my ties, think that we (a caution) will get, and suddenly there is no caution. So just to think how they are going to the police, which would be the biggest thing. ‘
This past spring’s race was on average a caution every 41 laps through the first 369 rounds and then did not have the final 121 rounds of caution.
