Denny Hamlin to skip after the birth of the son of Mexico City Race

Mexico City – Denny Hamlin will miss Sunday’s cup of Cup at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez to stay in the United States after the birth of his son on Wednesday.

Ryan Truex, who is Joe Gibbs Racing’s reserve manager, will be the no. 11 -Car drives in Hamlin’s absence.

“We are pleased to announce the birth of our son,” Hamlin said in a statement. “Everyone is doing well. My most important priority is to be at home for (fiancé) Jordan and our family over the next few days when she is able to go home and move on to life as a family of five.

“I appreciate everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing, our partners and our fans for support over the past few weeks, and I look forward to being on the track again next weekend in Pocono.”

Hendrick Motorsports said Alex Bowman was judged for back pain after his accident in Michigan last weekend.

Joe Gibbs Racing said on Thursday it would apply for a play -off match, so Hamlin, who achieved three wins this year, is eligible for the play -offs. Nascar said before the season that it would give a waiver of the play -off match to a driver who missed a race for the birth of a child.

This is the first cup of Truex since 2014. He rode one Xfinity race this season and competed for the season opener at Daytona for Sam Hunt Racing. Truex has started three of its last 18 XFinity since 2023.

This is the first cup of cup that Hamlin has missed since 2014. He sat a race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, that season when he developed a sinus infection that influenced his vision before the event. Hamlin will start ending his 406 consecutive cup this weekend.
