Daytona Beach, Fla. – Dale Earnhardt jr. Stretch his hand to Justin Allgaier on Pit Road after Allgaier finished ninth in Sunday’s Daytona 500 in the first race for Earnhardt as an owner of the car.
“Good job,” Earnhardt said as he clapped hands with allgower. “Just as we planned.”
Earnhardt smiles and embraces allgaier.
They laughed and joked a bit before Earnhardt looked at the damaged no. 40 -Motor with which Allgaier was finished, looked at his friend and said, ‘Hey, here we are. Proud of you. “
Earnhardt embraced allgaier.
After an emotional week around the Daytona 500 – Jr. Motors sports do not have a charter and do not have a starting place in the race – Earnhardt likes allgaier’s finish.
“Dale told me this week that nothing would be cooler than to come down to the Daytona 500 to Pit Road and talk about how cool the race was,” Allgaier said.
That’s what they did. Allgaier came through the last round of accident and found several places to finish ninth.
“When he wasn’t in the Daytona 500 in ten years, it was a fairly special evening,” Allgaier said while William Byron celebrated his second consecutive Daytona 500 victory on the leading victory.
When yr. Motorsports announced on January 15 that he would come up for the first time and do it on the Daytona 500, Earnhardt said he wanted to experience as much as he could. He was there when the garage opened at 06:00 on Wednesday to see his team drop off the truck’s car. Earnhardt walked along the car while the team pushed it to his garage stall. He was regularly seen in that stall during the week and around his car.
But things didn’t come easily for the team. Allgaier fell 0.08 seconds before the fact that he achieved a place in the Daytona 500 in Wednesday night’s qualifying. Earnhardt admitted to being “heartbreaking” by the result.
That meant he had to earn a place in Thursday’s qualifying races.
With four rounds to go in his qualifying race, Allgaier was unable to claim a starting place in the 500. He gathered to earn the place in the biggest race of the year. Earnhardt celebrated by running a part of Pit Road to come to Allgaier and congratulate him.
“Every day until this morning was emotionally tough,” Earnhardt told NBC Sports after the Sunday night. “Today I had no nerves. It is clear that at the end there is nervous to just get through the wreckage. I didn’t expect or expect a top 10 finish. So, I think we are blessed.
“We were prepared and did everything in our power to be right, and when our opportunity came into the race to get what we could get, we got it. The day was nice. It really was a low pressure. All the hard work and the emotion were the build -up. We got to the 1-yard line and beat it to finish the day.
“We’ll see what’s coming next. This is the next thing. “
JR. Motors sports have no other cup racing planned at this point.
“I would like to do that,” Earnhardt said about Cup Racing. “That’s where we belong. This is true wants to be. We just have to figure it out. We just have to find the right people who want to work with us to help us get into the cup series.
“We can’t do it alone. So, it’s going to take some good people who want to invest in something that I think has a lot of value and a lot of potential. “
