Cup results, points to Mexico City while Shane of Gisbergen shakes out of the playoffs

Shane van Gisbergen qualified for the 2025 Nascar Cup series play -offs with its second career victory on the track, which dominates the first race in Mexico City.

The Trackhouse Racing driver became the 10th manager who won his first top five in 2025 this season (his previous best was a sixth on Circuit of the Americas).

After winning in the streets of the Center of Chicago in 2023, Van Gisbergen started winning his second victory in his thirtieth. He led a 60 of 100 rounds to become the 33rd driver to win several cup races on road courses (and the eighth to win their first two races on road courses). He also joined Fireball Roberts and Elliott Chase as the third driver with two first road or street course.

The victory of Gisbergen will shake the standings of the ordinary season. He entered the Mexico City race in 33rd and 130 points under the cutting line-the second-depth deficit for a play-off manager to overcome with a win (Harrison Burton was 34th before his victory in Daytona in 2024.

The victory’s victory was 16,567 seconds, the largest in the cup since Texas in November 2009 (25,686 seconds) and the largest on a roadway since Riverside in 1979 (32.9 seconds).
