Trainer Brian ‘Bomack’ McIntyre says Terence Crawford was willing to fight Canelo Alvarez without a rehydration clause because he didn’t feel they needed to prove it was him.the best” Bomac Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) says he wants to “show the world” he’s a great fighter.
Fans will see that hogwash And the real reason Crawford wants to fight Canelo is for the big payday he’ll get. It seems pointless when Crawford asserts that this is the “best” dirt BoMac is spewing, and that he has no desire to prove himself at 168.
Fighters take on the best contenders in weight classes before challenging the champion. Crawford is skipping that part by going straight into the title fight against Canelo.
In truth, the 37-year-old Crawford couldn’t quite put on words with superstar Canelo the way he did with Errol Spence. Terrence didn’t get anywhere near demanding the weight requirements for the Canelo fight, and he was fighting dangerous young fighters at 154 for far less money.
Crawford may be able to avoid the loss if he fights WBC/WBO junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora. However, he could lose if he takes on one of the light middleweight killers like Virgil Ortiz, Sergiy Bohachuk or Bakram Murtazalev. As the game gets Crawford exposed and his value in the sport diminishes.
Canelo-Crawford has yet to be officially announced, but it could happen during the Mexican Independence Day weekend in September. It would be interesting if Turki threw a wrench into Cawford’s career by defeating one of the top-tier super middleweights, rather than giving Al Sheik credit based on what he’s done during his career. .
Canelo beat Crawford last week, saying, “I hit himA good fighter” at the age of 17 in his professional career, and that was Errol Spence after a car accident. Bomack didn’t have much to say about that comment other than to repeat what Crawford had said against how human he was by beating him to the point of looking like a “nobody.” However, Crawford’s resume is barren of qualitative objections. He beat a lot of good fighters, never the best or elite level.
Canelo was telling Crawford about his long streak without taking risks. Terrence can’t blame his promoters for not being able to make a fight for him because if he moved up to 154, 160 or 168 he would have had more opportunities for a bigger fight during his career.
If Crawford had been looking for bigger fights in the past 17 years, he could have stepped up and fought middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin when he was still young. I don’t think it will end well for Crawford, but he could have done that. Crawford’s lack of dealing with danger was never the same as it was with Canelo. That’s why Bud only has “one good fighter” on the broken Spence.
If I were Canelo, I’d have Terrence David Benavidez win the fight over the winners of the David Morrell fight. This gives Crawford a great fight to build his name on until Canelo gets a pass on the boxing world by fighting him.
The fans jumped on the Mexican star coming up two weight divisions to fight him without getting a big payday. Two years ago, Jermel Charlo moved up from 154 to challenge Canelo for the title at 168, and the fight was a complete mismatch due to Alvarez’s superior power. Crawford will be worse because he is smaller and weaker than Jermel.
“I think Crawford’s rebuttal is that everybody always says, ‘Oh, he didn’t fight anybody,’ or ‘Everybody he fought was nameless,’ but I’m going to tell you this. What Crawford said was, ‘Well, they were one thing,’ until Crawford fought them,” trainer Brian ‘Bomack’ McIntyre said. Boxing SocialTerence Crawford reacts to Canelo Alvarez saying he only fought one good fighter in his career, Errol Spence.
“So he[Crawford]is doing a good job because he’s making everybody look normal. That’s what Crawford wants. He wants to show the world that he is the best. Why put rules in there when you know you can be the best? So, let’s test ourselves,” Bomack said of Crawford’s agreement to fight Crawford Kanlon at 168 with a no-waterfall clause.
