After winning the second round match at the Paris-French Open, defending champion Carlos Alkaraj finally did something that he always wanted: sing to fans in Roleland-Garros.
Alkaraj defeated Hungary’s Fabian Marjan-1-3, 3-6, -1-3, -2-2 and just finished a brief interview with Mats Wlander with Philip-Chatrar.
So the fans thought it was, but the alkaraj was not done.
“A thing, a thing. I always wanted to do it. I hope everyone will follow me,” said Spaniard, 22 years old.
Then, on the microphone, he was often sang at the Roleland-Garros when he was belt by a crowd in a familiar-sounding break.
Probably appropriately, it is in the melody of a Spanish Passo Doble. It goes “Po-po-po-po po po-lolo”-as the French write it-and always follow a break and then a “Oli”.
A smiling alkaraj lets the crowd “Oli” part, then they give a hand with the Wlander before appreciating high court.
Alkaraj later said that he was thinking about doing that song after an interview here last year, but it never.
Alkaraj does not need to be so shy, because he did not intimidate any stage and sang clearly.
His game in Red Clay is also a lot of in-tune, four-time Grand Slam champion won 29 of his 31 matches on his surface.
One of the losing against Novak Djokovich was one of the losings in the gold medal match at the Paris Olympics last summer and was held on the same site as the French Open.
“I just liked it here and there were some great moments,” said Alakaraj. ” “I hope people leave the court when they leave, they left with a smile.”
Alkaraj faces the invisible Damir Zumahur in the third round.
