Bubba Wallace finds himself in a unique position in a unique position entering Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“I’ve never been the tenth place in points 12 races,” he said. “I’ve always been the drama for the last four races that led to the play -offs to try to do it. Not that we are locked in any way … but (66) point out the good, it has never said. ‘
Wallace has a season as opposed to any other for him.
He is partly in the top -10 in the standings, partly because of the stage points he scored. His 100 stage points are fourth in the series behind only Kyle Larson (128 stage points), Ryan Blaney (110) and William Byron (107).
Wallace’s total exceeds the combined stage points (99) conducted by Ross Chastain, Chase Briscoe, Ricky Stenhouse jr. And Ryan Preece – holding the last four places in the play -off game.
Sunday’s race is the halfway point of the regular season of 26 breeds, so there are still many races to go.

While Wallace has two Career Cup victories, no one came in the ordinary season. This led to the scramble to make the playoffs at the end of the ordinary season. His only play -off match came in 2023 when he secured the last play -off match in the regular season final in Daytona. He enters Sunday’s race in his last 91 cup.
Wallace has never been higher than the 16th in the standings at this point of the season in his previous seven seasons. A new crew head in Charles Denike and a Fast Pit crew played roles in the improved performance of Wallace, but one should not overlook the growth of Wallace as manager.
“I did a lot on the self, on the spiritual side, the physical side to make sure I was suitable for the work,” Wallace said. “So you have to think like everything everyone does is just click and it seems to be working, right?”
Cup drivers will take part in the longest race of the season on Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday night.
As Wallace gained experience in Cup, he learned more what is needed to compete at the highest level of Nascar.
“Eight years there’s so much more than beating the other guys,” Wallace said of advice that he would give his younger self. “You have to do X, Y and Z and 1, 2 and 3, don’t you? It’s wild how much will try to be the best. I would say, except to enjoy the moment, roll up your sleeves and be ready to work.
“There are some people, for example Larson, where he can wake up and go out and win everything. Fortunately for him. Awesome. There are other people, like me, I will throw my name into the hat, where we have to work to be so big. You must understand it and two, it recognizes, and three, it must work. ‘

Wallace knows this week could be a challenge. The qualifying sequence is based on a metric that is very weighed on how the car was completed in the previous race. With the 33rd place in Kansas in the most recent points race, Wallace will go early in qualifying. It can be a starting place outside the top 20.
“It’s going to be a dog fight for 600 miles,” Wallace said. “… I’ve looked at it before, like, ‘Damn, we’re already negative. “Well, there’s no other than going out last and hitting the wall and starting in the 20s, right?
