Browns interviewed Christian Jones for QB coach Thursday

The Browns have begun the interview process for running backs coach.

According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Cleveland interviewed Giants assistant QB coach Christian Jones for the position on Thursday.

Jones just finished his second season in that role in New York after serving as an offensive assistant in 2022. He previously was with the Vikings for three seasons as the offensive quality control coach and then the assistant receivers coach.

Jones played his college ball at Northwestern from 2011-2015, where he was a receiver.

New Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees said in his introductory press conference Thursday that he will deal with quarterbacks, but it remains to be determined if the club will hire a full-time QB coach.

“It’s something that as a staff we have to evaluate exactly how we want to play it,” Rees said. “(We’re) going to weigh all those options and make sure it’s a good fit for us.”

The Browns previously had Alex Van Pelt as their offensive coordinator and running backs coach in 2023 before bringing in Ken Dorsey as OC in 2024.
