North Wilkesboro, NC-former cup champion Brad Keselowski, said Friday that North Wilkesboro Speedway should host a point race and that the All-Star race should return to Charlotte car Speedway.
Keselowski said such a move could mean the end of the Roval race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“I would like to see the All-Star race return to Charlotte,” he said after winning the pole for Sunday’s All-Star race. “That’s my only personal opinion.
“I think the Charlotte race track, especially since it has only one race on the oval, I think it’s a mist for our sport.
“It’s a wonderful racetrack, attracts some of the best races. It would make sense to me if we returned there, this (Northern Wilkesboro) would make a (points) race and probably get rid of a race like the Roval or something similar. ‘
When asked why the Roval got rid of, the opportunity had some memorable moments, Keselowski said: “Does it really? I look at the plots and there are more (fans) coming to the Oval Race. Better judgments. I also thought it assessed the sport.”
Charlotte Motor Speedway had two points races and the All-Star race in 32 of 33 years of 1985-2017.
The Roval debuted in 2018 to compensate the shrinking attendance in Charlotte’s play -off match. The Roval offers a play -off match for an eighth consecutive year. It was a cut -off point every year. The Roval finishes the second round again this year.
The All-Star race left Charlotte after the 2019 season. It was held in Bristol and Texas in 2021-22 in 2020 before moving to North Wildeboro in 2023, which emphasizes the revival of the track. Kyle Larson won the event at 2023. Joey Logano led all but one of the 200 rounds in winning last year’s All-Star race.
North Wilkesboro last offered a cup -point race in 1996.
