Bonding with dad? Here are 5 activities to try on Father’s Day

MANILA, Philippines – Memory making with dad can go beyond the typical lunch out or outdoor activities. There are many hidden gems around Metro Manila that can make your bonding experience with him even more fun.

So if you’re looking for new adventures to explore on Father’s Day, here are five activities to check out!

Pottery, rug tufting

Pottery with papa? Why not! It’s a fun activity growing in popularity, with many people taking a workshop session or two. 

This underrated art encourages sculptors to shape items that are unique and charmingly imperfect. So if you’d like to try and create special items for your dad, check out Bumi & Ashe on Father’s Day! 

They have two branches located at the Cubao Expo in 3 General Romulo Avenue, Quezon City and their Makati studio at 7230 Malugay, Bel-Air Makati (beside The Zone).

They offer a wide range of classes such as their Handbuilding Workshop (P3,200) that teaches learners how to hand sculpt lids, vases, and many other useful items. 

This weekend, they’re also heading to the south for some workshops at Alabang Town Center.

  

If pottery seems too intimidating, Bumi & Ashe also offers rug tufting workshops (P2,700) in both their Makati and Cubao branches. Simply select the size of the rug you want to make and shape into any cartoon character, object or design that you like!

Trivia night 

Generate some brain power with your tatay! On Saturday, June 14, Trivia Down Tuesdays holds a “Common Knowledge Trivia Night” at 8 pm at The Catalogue in Legazpi Village, Makati City.

You can also test your Gen X dad’s knowledge in the “Batang ‘90s” quiz on Sunday, June 15, at 6 pm at the Skyline Sports Bar in Century City Mall.

Mini golf

Treat your dad to a fun competition of indoor mini golf at Pat’s Putts. This glow-in-the-dark golf course is perfect for a Father’s Day celebration, whether or not your daddy knows how to play the sport!

Bouldering 

If you and your dad want to go for physically and strategically challenging activities, you can try your hand at bouldering.

At The Bouldering Hive, this sport activity doesn’t require any harness or ropes, as the walls are much lower. 

  

The Bouldering Hive offers classes for beginners and advanced climbers in both their Greenhills Malls and Circuit Makati branches. You can also opt for private coaching with the available instructors at the bouldering gym.

Coffee, tea, cocktail tasting 

Perhaps you and your dad bond together best over some drinks? Take him on a foodie trip with an array of different tasting sessions by ITO at 107 Aguirre, Legazpi Village, Makati. 

For their coffee sessions, they provide two tasting experiences. The first is a 55-minute session called Explore (P1,150), which includes an Oat Milk Brew Mocktail, a snack, and an Espresso drink. 

The other option is Cloud (P950), a 45-minute session that includes a Cold Brew Tonic, Coffee Mocktail, Espresso Duet, and a snack. 

If a coffee fix is not what you need, their 45-minute tea tasting sessions, Mori (P950) and Raku (P950), offer a variety of hot and iced drinks, from matcha beverages to cold brew teas. 

  

ITO also offers a 90-minute cocktail and non-alcoholic tasting session (P2,750). The package includes a four-beverage course and a snack pairing.
