Broncos quarterback Bo Nix appeared on the injury report with a back issue in Week 13 before the Broncos played the Browns on Dec. 2. He played all 66 snaps in the 41-32 win and did not appear on the report again due to injury.
It turns out that Knicks accidentally fractured his back while playing.
“It was the biggest week I had Broken transverse process in my back“I got treatment that week, and I made it through that week,” Knicks said Monday, via Mike Kless of 9News. “Monday night football was a stretch where we were all getting beat up. And I didn’t want to miss the first game on Monday night. I had treatment and then we were lucky to have a vacation (bye) the following week and it was gone after that.
“That moment was annoying, but we’re all playing with something.”
It was clear during a win over the Raiders on November 24 that Knicks was in some pain when he winced after Maxx Crosby hit him in the back. However, the Knicks played all 68 snaps of that game despite saying Monday that the injury occurred earlier in the game, with Crosby exacerbating the pain.
The Knicks played five more games in the regular season and playoff loss to Buffalo after fracturing his back. However, he finished with 3,775 yards and 29 touchdown passes while also rushing for four more touchdowns and catching a touchdown.
“I think the No. 1 quality everyone likes about him is his toughness,” Mike McGlinchey said. It showed the entry and exit time. And it’s not just the physicality of playing something like this or anything that he goes through physically, but the mental rollercoaster of being a rookie quarterback and being the face of our franchise and all the pressure that comes with that and the approach. He dealt with it. Poe’s toughness is why he will be what he will be. “It was really impressive to watch.”
