Belinda Benic reached the quarter -finals of his first Wimbledon on the ninth attempt


London-Belinda Benic advanced to his first Wimbledon quarter-finals-all of his England club’s debut, 11-descent Ekterina Alexandrava lost to 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Benik, who lost in the fourth round on the previous three events, failed to convert five match points in the second set 3-1. However, in the sixth, Alexandrova sent a forehand long to the first number court.

“Your boys were entertaining it,” Benik said about the marathon game 1-3, where Alexandrova finally converted his fourth break point to stay in the match. “It was a big pressure for me.”

The best results of the 28 -year -old Benic in the Grand Slam reached the semifinals at the 2019 US Open, where he reached the quarters on two more occasions.

The Tokyo Olympic champion, playing in Wimbledon for the ninth time, has not been the last eight in any of the other three Majors.

“I was always stuck in the fourth round (Wimbledon),” Benic said in an interview on-court. “So it was so important for me to be able to break the quarterfinals today for me.”

Benik missed the Grass-Court Grand Slam tournament last year when he was on maternity leave, giving birth to his first child-a daughter-in-law-April 2024.

He said that even though it was so young, traveling with a child on tour is still relatively easy, but he is spending a lot of time to take pictures while in the tournament.

Benik said, “I’m waking it like every mother.” “So, props to Mamad.”

Benik will play the winning character between Mirra Andreva, the seventh -descent Mirra Andreva, who was later playing in the Center Court. In the previous round, Navaro defending champions Barbora Crazikova lost, confirmed that the women’s tournament would win the first time.
