Sabalenka 37 hit the winners, but compared to Gaff’s 3 – 3 finished the final with an unexpected error.
He said he wrote to Ghaf for apologizing and “confirmed that he knew he was absolutely deserved to win the tournament and I respect him.”
“I never intended to attack him,” Subalanka added. “I was not very sensitive and very smart at this press conference. I am not necessarily grateful for what I did. It took me some time to go and understand it with open eyes and to think about it. I understand a lot about myself. Why have I lost so many finals?”
The three -time chief champion Sabalenka also lost to Gulf in the US Open final of 2021, where he won the first set.
Sabalenka added, “I become so sensitive.” So I learned a lot. Above all, one thing: I am the person who always treats my opponents with great respect, whether I win or lose. Without respect, I will not be where today. So it was a tough but very valuable lesson for me. “
