Art Rooney on Mike Tomlin: When you have a good coach, keep overwhelmed with him

The Steelers have no idea Who will be their troatrack next season. They don’t have a question who will be their chief coach.

President Steelers Art Rooney II threw his full support behind Mike Tomlin on Monday.

“When you look at how much Mike won in this league, don’t win in many games If you are not a good coach“” Said Rooney, via Brooke Pryor from the ESPN. “And I know it’s frustrated as if we’re all in the sense that we can’t take the next step, but we still feel good in being the leader and still thinking he has the strength to keep her.

“The other side of the coin is when you look at the fact that we have six, seven, eight teams a year that turn your coaches. When you have a good coach, you’re just trying to keep with yourself.”

It’s not what most teams do, but Steelers aren’t most teams. They don’t change coaches, they proudly had only three main coaches since 1969. years.

Tomlin, 52, will be returned for 19. season. He never had a loser season and in the regular season amounted to 183-107-2 in his career.

But Steelers left one again – and one postseason, losing his sixth year in a row of playing. Since 2016. they did not win the match of the postseason match.

Only Jim Mora, Marvin Lewis, Marty Schottenheimer, Shane Owen and Tomlin lost six or more playoffs in a series in the history of the NFL.

Steelers completed the 2024 season with five consecutive losses.

“It’s fair to question him after losing five in a row, but when I talk to players, I think the players still want to play for Mike,” Rooney said. “And so I don’t worry about his message or such a real thing.”

Rooney recognizes growing frustration due to his team’s inability to win the postseason. Steelers did not play in Super Bowl since season 2010, and they last won in the 2008 season.

“My Inbox has been quite full lately,” Rooney said. “Yes, I have a sense. And look, I share their frustration, it was a very disappointing way we finished the season, so I understand why people are crazy. All I can say that actions speak louder than words and we must be better. “
