MANILA, Philippines — Honeylet Avanceña, the common-law wife of former president Rodrigo Duterte, confirmed over the weekend that she had put up for sale their house at Doña Luisa Village Phase 1.
She told dzRH on Saturday, June 28, that the house had felt empty every time she visited it since Duterte has been jailed in The Hague. She also spoke of, but did not disclose, security threats if she stayed in the property.
PhilStar reported from Davao City that subdivision residents had complained about the noise made and trash left behind by the ex-president’s supporters who had held vigil since his arrest.
Meanwhile, Duterte’s critics on social dismissed the house as a property that he only used to project a “simpleng tao” (simple folk) image and to disguise the wealth he had accumulated. (He refused to release all his assets lists during his presidency, despite these being public records.)
