Madrid – Teenage sensation Alexandra Ila is trying to stay based on the sudden attention after following his breakthrough run in Miami.
Rafael Nadal’s Academy’s product arrived at the WA Rankings at the WA Rankings after the 19-year-old Ella wild-card entry arrived at the Miami Open semifinal. He is the first Philipina who is inside the top 100.
“Now the dust is fixed, I try not to worry so much about Miami,” he said. “Of course, when everyone is asking when I feel in my mind, I have the whole life to look back at the moments and I always keep those memories. But this tour is going on, competition is going on, I am focusing on Madrid right now.”
In the inaugural match of the Kadamati-Court Madrid Open, Victoria defeated Tomova-3-2-2-2-2 and re-match against four-time French Open Champion IGA Sotech, whom she defeated straight into the Miami Quarter-Final.
“I certainly think that every match is a different story,” Ila said. “Even if it is against the same player every time – I played him in Miami next year or next year in Madrid, nothing goes, it’s going to be a different story than the end.”
Left-handed Ila defeated two other Grand Slam champion-geinena Ostapenco and Madison Keys-Miyamy.
Ila said, “A lot of external factors have changed (from Miami).” “I have more eyes on me. I guess that there are more exposure. But how I feel internally on every day and how I feel nothing too much because the morality of the work was always on earth, the base of the world is based on me and reminding me of what is important now to pay attention to.”
In Miami, Ila became the first Philipino player in the Open Age to win four main-drings matches at a WA 1000 event.
“What I was quite shocked to me was that I won against the top ten and top five players. Of course Happy shock,” he said. “But the mentality is still, especially before the match, you can defeat them”
Ila lost to Panna Udvardi in the WAA 125 tournament last week in Weiras in Portugal, Ila faces his first WTAA 1000 wins in Madrid last year.
After his one win in the Youth Tournament, Ila moved to Spain at the age of 5 after the invitation of Rafa Nadal Academy.
“I certainly think that when I came to the RAFA Academy it was a big milestone. They were of course part of my journey,” he said. “It was a hard decision to send me to Spain at a young age, but I was extremely excited. I knew I had a big chance to develop tennis coming out of the Philippines.
“They are very experienced people,” he said. “Coaching workers have a lot of experience, have a lot of knowledge and they have a structure that enables me to grow up and find out themselves and develop as players.”
Nadal was among them after his surprising run in Miami.
