Ex Australia National cricket team player Ian Healy talks about the BCCI’s move to make things smooth in Indian cricket. They admitted that the manner in which they introduced the guidelines had caused the team to lose discipline.
of India The national cricket team has been in the headlines for the past few weeks. This is after a disciplinary report has been submitted Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Head coach Gautam Gambhir He reported the same to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
After that, BCCI issued guidelines for the players and took some strong steps. They issued 10-point guidelines and according to this, all the players should make themselves ready for domestic cricket and “stay for all the scheduled practice sessions and go to and from the venue together”.
Apart from this, the policy has seen the BCCI implement restrictions on the time the players spend with their families while on tour. The players’ families are allowed only two weeks during the 45-day tour.
With BCCI introducing the guidelines, former Australian cricketer Ian Healy called it a reshaping of Indian cricket. He said it was a strong response from the governing body following the misconduct of the players. Speaking to SN Radio, he explained:
“Reshaping Indian Cricket. Indian Cricket Officials Admit A Tough, Strong Reaction Allowed Their National Team’s Discipline To Slip Badly.”
In the year Ian Healy, who represented Australia in 119 Tests and 168 ODIs between 1988 and 1999, said other cricket boards should be alert and take note of what is happening. He explained.
“It makes unusual reading that the following issues may go unacknowledged for a long time. Perhaps managers and players have not respected the dream of representing the sport’s power.”
“Australia – and other countries – know how far things can go off the rails without realizing the consequences. Be proactive. Take all that into the race.”
The BCCI also stated that all players must now travel with the team. Earlier, some top cricketers traveled to and from the stadiums in private vehicles, which the BCCI operations team arranges with the help of state departments.
The BCCI has also banned personal managers or assistants of players and support members from staying at the team hotel. Furthermore, no player is allowed to hire a chef or hairdresser on tour.
