Cromwell, Conn. – Tommy Fleetwood escaped Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas, never lacked on Saturday and took good points of scoring for 7-little 63 for the three-shot to the final round of the passenger championship.
It is an opportunity to add a PGA tour to a resume that includes seven European titles, three performances of three rows and regular fastening among the top 25 for the last two years.
Immediate challengers on Steamy TPC River Highlands are new English favorite son and captain Ryder Bradley (63) and Russell Henley, who were 61 days after he was not completely sure that it was completely safe.
They are missing Scheffler and Thomas, they are both tied to leadership for 36 holes with a fleet.
Scheffler was 29. Birthday forget. Thousands of spectators around the first teena serenad. He replied with Triple Bogee, the first time he did it to start a circle in his PGA tourist career. The world number 1 player never recovered, publishing 72, his fifth time in 55 rounds this year, he was over a couple.
Scheffler came out nine shots.
Thomas, already winner in Hilton this year, was still in the span of the fleet when he hit a tea shot at the railway that were left of 13. years, the club is out of hand. And then it gets worse. He watched the chips on a slope on the green that ran away from him, come short and roll over the hill.
He missed the 6th of the road and took four-bed-bogee 9. Thomas Shot 73 and was 10 behind.
Without wind – only extreme heat – the average course was right about 68. The Final Group Scheffler and Thomas combined to go to 5-above.
Fleetwood was in such a control of his game that he did not understand until after the wheel did not miss a relationship, the key to placing the bird chances.
The eagle also did in 13. Hill another day, giving him three eagles for the week. They don’t hand over the crystal for it to passengers, only red umbrellas. But he allowed him Fleetwood to separate for Henley and Bradley on Sunday.
Fleetwood, 34-year-olds from England, was 16-under 194.
“I’m on top of a lot of statistics for people who didn’t win the PGA tour, so I always be no. 1 in something is always nice,” he said with laughter.
“Yes, of course I would like to win the PGA tour. It’s like an element of your career, and I don’t want to, but I’m not that I wasn’t really excited about it and I’m looking forward to it.”
Jason Day fled three straight birds on his back nine to Salvation 67 and there were five shots back. No one else was closer to eight shots of the flete.
Scheffler did not finish from the first 10 of March and is extremely finished with the day with birds for links to the eighth. Start was a shocker.
He drove left in a 5-inch rough and struck a wedge in the front bunker with a decent liar. But he grabbed all the ball and sent it over green, leaving him with a heavy slope on the slope and over a crowd toward the hole. The first court came short and rolled in rough.
He struck the flop at 15 feet and twice in Triple Bogee, first on the tour since the BMW championship last August.
Bradley, whose name didn’t disappear from Camping Ryder as a player, won travelers two years ago and cleaned the main obstacle trying to perform before they were fans New England, now Chanting, “USA! Now!” on yourself at every step.
He loves his position chase. He still knows he needs to play well.
“Oh, man, you’ll have to shoot something at least in the middle of the 60s, probably where I,” Bradley said. “But it’s feasible here. When you play a course where you have to make birds that brings a different challenge. You can’t grow 1 over 1 hole or lose a million shots.
“So in some respects it’s hard just like a difficult course.”
