Another Commanders fumble turned into an Eagles touchdown.
Philadelphia took a 41-23 lead with 12:24 left in the fourth quarter after Austin Ekeler fumbled and Jalen Hurts scored his third rushing touchdown of the game.
Ekeler caught a short pass to the right, but linebacker Oren Burks knocked the ball away as the running back entered the round. Linebacker Zack Baun recovered the fumble to give Philadelphia an extra possession at the club’s 49-yard line.
Running back Saquon Barkley nearly had his third rushing touchdown, carrying 22 yards to the 1-yard line. But after that, three consecutive penalties by Washington moved the ball to the line by nearly an inch. The officials announced that the Eagles could be awarded a point on purpose if the “intentional” penalty continues to occur.
But that streak also wasted significant time, ebbing away for nearly a minute before Hurts finally got on the score sheet.
Washington fumbled three times and Philadelphia scored a touchdown on each of them.
The Eagles now have five rushing touchdowns entering Sunday.
