Lebanon, Tenn. – Rajah Caruth kept Corey Heim in the final rounds to win Friday night’s Nascar Craftsman Truck Series race on Nashville Superspeedway.
Heim finished second in the 150-Round race. Layne Riggs was placed third. Daniel Hemric finishes fourth. Corey Day has completed the top five.
“The guys breathed the whole run off my neck,” Caruth told FS1 of Heim and Riggs. “… we were gone this year, but good to make it do it tonight.”
Friday’s win is the second career truck victory for Caruth, whose path to racing came via Iracing. He achieved his first career truck victory in March 2024 at Las Vegas. The victory made him the third black driver in the history of Nascar to win a National Nascar series race, and to join the Hall of Famer Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace.
Riggs won the first phase. Heim won the second phase. Heim led 58 rounds and became the first manager in the series history to lead 800 rounds in the first 12 races of a season.
“I feel like just clean air was the most important thing tonight,” Heim said. ‘With the third phase tonight fairly straight, with a lack of strategy and everything green, it was hard to come back for the lead, but I slipped through my box at the last stop and my guys did no favors. Just something to think about my end, but great luck to Rajah (Caruth).
“He has done an incredible job to run from the lead. I was really free behind him, and he made the right move every time I went. ‘
Caruth is the fifth driver who won a play -off match via a win and joined Heim (four wins), Chandler Smith (two), Hemric (one) and Tyler Ankrum (one).
