According to Eddie Hearn, George Kambossos Jr. will headline a show in Australia in March. The former unified lightweight champion did not reveal who he would fight, but said he would be a top 15 contender in his 140 debut.
The ‘Emperor’ Kambossos is coming off a rough patch in his career, having now won three of his last four fights, and is regarded as a textbook example of an underwhelming fighter.
George pulled off Teofimo Lopez’s miracle in 2021 and made millions from that brief success. However, Kambossos has since lost twice to Devin Haney and lost to Vassily Lomachenko. He is a flash in the pan.
Kambossos (21-3, 10 KOs) says he will challenge Richardson Hitchin for the IBF light welterweight title in the summer. undefeated New York as a “Crazy,β Kambossos is confident of defeating him to become a two-division world champion.
Hitchins defeated IBF140-lb champion Liam Paro in a 12-round decision on December 7 last month, spoiling Hearn’s plans for a big Australian clash. Hearn He hoped to face Kambossos and Paro in one big Aussie team in 2025, as that fight would sell big for the Australian market.
