Benavidez Sr.: Bivol takes a rematch with Beterbiev

Trainer Jose Benavidez defeated senior Dmitri Bivol to defeat undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev in a rematch in 31 days at Reed on Feb. 22.

Jose Sr. said he felt that former WBA 175-lb champion Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) won his first fight against Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) by “one point” on October 12. In their rematch next month, Bivol sees them do it again.

Benavidez said Sr. Bivol was “quick” and his “movement” was key in his mind as to why he deserved the victory over Beterbiev. He didn’t express how shy and unwilling he was to take Bivol out of the sixth round. Leave that part out.

Bivol showed no heart as he ran the ring. Run away from the wolfBeterbiev, in the second half of the competition. Many fans seemed to have decided who was going to win in the first six rounds and mentally fell asleep as Beterbiev took control of the fight in the second half.

Confirmation bias in the box

It is called Confirmation biasIt happens when people make snap decisions on events like the Bivol-Beterbiev 1 fight. Those who felt Bivol had won made up their minds after six rounds and then looked for evidence to back up their beliefs in the second half. He shut down Beterbiev’s dominance as he dominated the fight with his constant pressure.

“I think it’s going to be another close fight. We have seen them both do what they can. Both of their styles work against each other, and I believe in the first fight, Bivol won. For this fight, Bivol can win again,” Jose Benavidez Sr. said. Sean Zittel On his thoughts on the upcoming February 22 rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitri Bivol.

“He’s a little bit faster, he’s got a lot of movement,” Jose Sr. said of Bivol. “Beterbiev hits hard, and he’s probably waiting for that big shot. Bivol, I hope, will not stand in front of him and hit him with a big shot. So I think it will be the same fight.

“Bivol, I think he won by one point. It was a very close fight. For me, it can be equal, but they gave it to Beterbiev. I’m not a judge, but I felt he (Bivol) did enough to win that fight,” Benavidez Sr. said.

Benavidez’s share

If Bivol wins his rematch with Beterbiev, he will work for Jose Benavidez Sr. because his son ‘The Mexican Monster’ David Benavidez matches Bivol. They’ve been sparring in the past, and Benavidez has reportedly gotten the better of him with his pressure and volume.

Benavidez doesn’t fare well against Beterbiev because he’s good at punching and countering with his short power punches. The amount Benavidez relies on to win the fight leaves him open to being nailed and hurt by Arthur.

Moreover, Berbiev goes to the body well, and in that area he took advantage of Benavidez’s main weakness. Benavidez doesn’t handle body shots well, and Beterbiev frequently targeted that area, scoring in the middle of the burst.

If Beterbiev wins against Bivol on February 22nd, Benavidez will have to seriously consider whether he wants to take this fight or if he should move up to cruiserweight to go after Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez.

Of course, that is if ‘The Mexican Monster’ Benavidez wins his February 1st fight against WBA ‘regular’ light heavyweight champion David Morrell. There is a good chance Morel will win that fight with his superior strength, technical skills and youth.

Morel will face the winner of the Beterbiev vs. Bivol 2 rematch, while Benavidez will decide whether to move up to cruiserweight or become one of the many contenders at 175. Present it to the boy, Benavidez.
