It’s back! Big Bad Wolf Books is heading to Greenhills

Gather your budol besties and fellow bookworms — the book sale promises even more deals and activities this time around

MANILA, Philippines – Big Bad Wolf is back and bigger than ever!

Big Bad Wolf Books announced that the iconic book sale will be making its way back to Metro Manila, from May 23 until June 2, at V-Mall, Greenhills, San Juan City.

Last March’s sale at the SMX Convention Center in Clark, Pampanga, saw over 2 million books at discounts of up to 95%, and organized a writing workshop with Filipino authors Mica de Leon, a Don Carlos Palanca awardee for Literature in 2019 and 2022; and former journalist Claire de Guzman.

This time around, Big Bad Wolf Books promises even more “fantastic deals and fun activities” for readers of all ages.

Like with every Big Bad Wolf event, admission is free and readers can find books spanning a wide range of genres for as low as P60.

You can also enjoy daily tiered discounts of P200 off if you spend P2,000, and P500 off if you spend P5,000.

There’s also the Little Wolfies Crew, a program where kids can participate in the Big Bad Wolf book sale and book events, by becoming little “librarians,” welcoming readers in, arranging books, assisting at the cashiers, or helping out at the checkouts.

You can find out how to register for the Little Wolfies Crew on Facebook.

You can also have the chance to become Big Bad Wolf’s “Alpha Influencer” by joining the Reels Challenge and winning a P5,000 cash voucher. As a consolation prize, ten creators will also take home a P1,000 cash voucher.

Big Bad Wolf Books will also be offering exclusive bulk discounts to educational institutions and libraries.

Big Bad Wolf Books aims to make literature more affordable and accessible, advocating for functional literacy.

“We came across a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority that said nearly 19 million students in the Philippines are struggling with functional literacy — and that’s a number that really moved us,” said Big Bad Wolf Books co-founder Jacqueline Ng.

“It’s a wake-up call and a reminder that access to books and reading isn’t just about enjoyment, it’s about giving people the tools to navigate life, to understand the world around them, and to write their own stories,” she continued.

Founded in 2009 by Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng, Big Bad Wolf Books was first launched in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. From there, the book sale has toured 17 countries and 49 cities, including cities in Malaysia, Cambodia, Manila, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and the Philippines. They have also branched out to readers outside of Asia, having also held book tours in Tanzania, Kenya, and the UAE, and most recently, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The book sale has had multiple visits to Manila and major cities in Cebu, Davao, and Pampanga.

The Big Bad Wolf Metro Manila Book Sale at V-Mall, Greenhills marks Big Bad Wolf’s second visit to the Philippines this year.

This Big Bad Wolf event at V-Mall, Greenhills will be open from 10 am to 9 pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and from 10 am to 10 pm on Fridays to Sundays. – with reports by Bea Gatmaytan/Rappler.com
