Rome – Carlos Alkaraj says he has recovered from muscular injuries that forced him to move away from the open and “100% prepared for the Italian Open – where he was hoping to renew his rivalry with Janik Sinaar.”
Alkaraj had an upper -foot illness that disturbed him during the Open final of the Barcelona, as well as during the left foot injury.
“I’m in good shape. I am 100% ready to start the tournament,” said Alkaraj in Rome.
Alkaraj opens against Serbian Qualifier Dusan Lazovich. During Rome’s debut in Spaniard last year, he lost to the then-ranked Hungarian Qualifier Fabian Marjosan in the third round when he touched the issue of a boring right forces.
However, Alkaraj then began to win the back-to-back Grand Slam title in the French Open and Wimbledon.
“Last year was even more difficult,” Alkaraj said how he had already won Monty Carlo Masters and reached the final in Barcelona, where he lost to Holler Rune.
“I wasn’t worried at all,” said Alkaraj. “I have confidence at the moment. The practices (gone) are good. … I can’t wait tomorrow. I think my level is in a good place.”
The Rome tournament also returned the top sinner from a three -month doping ban.
The sinner and the alkaraj are on the opposite side of the draw.
Alkaraj said “I am happy to get him almost again.” “Obviously it was hard for him and I am sure that it was very long.” In favor of tennis, it is great for me that he is able to play the tournament again.
“Hopefully,” the third ranked Alkaraj added, “I’m going to meet him in the final.”
