Ryan Blaney, eleven races in the cup season, is looking for his first win of the year, although he would have achieved several wins.
This past weekend’s race in Texas was another dose of frustration for the former cup champion.
Blaney’s struggle to win also continues with a trend seen during most of his cup career. Only once did he win before the 13th race of the season.
With Joey Logano winning in Texas – and teammate Austin Cindric who won at Talladega this week – Blaney is the only team Penske driver without a cup win this season.
On a restart 23 rounds of the past weekend in Texas, Blaney was second and chooses to start back on the inside behind leader Kyle Larson. This gave Michael McDowell on the outside of the front row.
McDowell passed Larson for the lead shortly before a caution came out. Blaney was second and had to start on the outside again, but could not secure the lead on one of the last two re -principles while going against McDowell or Joey Logano.
“The one time I didn’t choose the outside (McDowell) got the lead and then I couldn’t get it back,” Blaney said after finishing third on Texas. ‘Only manager makes stupid decisions and doesn’t do his job. I appreciate the team. The 12 car was a quick car today. I just can’t do anything right at the moment. Hopefully it will work out itself. ‘
Blaney is often left to talk about how fast a car he had this season and the hope that better finishes are ahead.
Consider:
In Atlanta, Blaney ran fourth in the second race of the season with 32 laps when a pressure from Carson Hcevar spun him. Blaney returned to finish fourth. Hcevar apologized to Blaney after the race.

In Las Vegas, Blaney misunderstood his mocker and did not realize that he had two cars on his outside when he made contact with a car and ruined while he was seventh on a 72 rounds.

“It was an incredibly, incredibly fast race car today,” he said the day. We keep our heads up. This is just one of the things where it is not really, but the good news is that we bring fast cars and that’s all you can ask. ‘
A new week sends the series and Blaney to Kansas Speedway for Sunday’s race. This is the cut he made his cup debut in 2014. He finished fourth in last year’s play -off match. On Sunday, his 21st starts on the track and his best finish was third in the play -off game for 2017.
Could it be the weekend that Blaney returns to Victory Lane?
