Joey Logano, the first ruling cup champion who did not have a top five final through the first ten races of the season, scored an overtime victory on Texas Motor Speedway in the 11th race on Sunday.
“The sport is changing so quickly,” Logano, who started 27th, told FS1. “It’s crazy. If you can only drive with these Achtbanks. Just proud of the team. ‘
Logano is the ninth different winner in the last nine races in Texas. The win is the 37th in Logano’s career and ties him with Bobby Isaac for the 23rd on the list of all time.
Ross Chastain, who started the 31st, finished a best second season. Ryan Blaney overcame a pit road that ended the penalty of third place. Kyle Larson was fourth. Erik Jones finished the best fifth season and earned his first top 10 of the year.
The race was delayed by 12 warnings – including seven in the last phase.
Larson led a 90 rounds with a race, but the lead to Michael McDowell lost on a restart on 244 of the 271 Round race.
“You don’t want to give up the lead on a one and a half miles,” Larson told FS1. “It’s hard to get it back. Yes, Michael just did a good job. I started early to start the restart before and would leave again at the time. He just expected and probably led with me or just before, and he (Tyler) Reddick pushed him behind him. “
So, yes, I wish I could go back and do it again. Yes, just bummer, but try to learn from it.
McDowell moved to the front using a two -time pit at the front.
