IGA Sweetch Madrid recovers from the loss of 0-6 in the first set to defeat Madison keys in the Open Quarter-Final

Madrid-first six games lost and Madison keys survived the “A strange match” after being on a track to defeat the 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 and to be on the track to protect his title at the Madrid Open.

Coco Gulf went ahead in the semifinals, defeated the teenager Andreva straight to the set.

Sweetek was reinforced by keys early in their quarter -finals but eventually found a way to cross the fifth place in the Center Court.

“It was one of the weirdest matches that I played,” said the second ranked Sotech. “Maddie was playing perfectly at the beginning and I wasn’t really active with anything. I just let Mady make more mistakes by leaving the ball and the speed changed.”

Sweetake said that it didn’t feel good to get down to 0-6 at the beginning of the game, it was “weird”.

“At least it was fast, that’s the only positive thought,” he said. “I was just there. Obviously it wasn’t easy.”

This was the first meeting between the two since confusing a match point in the semifinals of the Sweetch Australian Open.

Sweetek is trying to reach the Madrid final directly to his third. He defeated Arya Sabalen last year after losing to him in 2023.

Sabalenka, the number one player in the world, faces the 24th seed Marta Coastuk in his quarter -final match.

Sweetch has not made it to the semifinals in any tournament since last year’s French Open.
