Turkey Al Sheik has announced that Ryan Garcia will fight former WBA light welterweight champion Rolando Roly Romero, Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez and Martin Bacole on the same card in May against Efe Ajagba. This is expected to be shown on PPV from Times Square in New York.
Hani (31-0, 15 KOs) is given a tough fight against former WBA and WBO light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs). I wonder if this was Bill Haney’s bright idea to match Devin with this guy. He may live to regret taking this fight.
Rolly Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) will be a surprise opponent for Ryan, as he was the name Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz was rumored to fight. Romero is seen as a one-time wonder.
Cruz defeated Rollie in the eighth round on March 30 last year in a title mismatch. Ryan points out that he doesn’t want to take the risk of losing to Rollie, coming off his long 13-month layoff.
That would have excited fight fans, but it would have been too much of a risk for Garcia because Cruz could actually fight. Roley has won two of his last four fights, and some feel he will lose a third unless he is unusually stopped in his May 2023 clash with Ismael Barroso.
After Rollie threw a punch, everyone punched the air and the referee stopped the fight out of the blue. He then lifted Rollie’s hand in the air in victory, while Barroso stood there like, ‘What’s going on here.’ No rematch was granted to Barroso, which made it look worse for Rollie.
The Ring Magazine is excited to announce its first boxing card in the United States in May 2025 from the video game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (which the card will be named after) and SNK Games.
The card consists of three bouts:
