DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — England’s Tyrrell Hatton held off New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier to win the Dubai Desert Classic by a goal on Sunday.
Overnight leader Hillier was the last to put the pressure on his rival, but Hatton held his nerve to clear his par putt from 7 feet to secure victory.
Hutton shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish at 15 under overall and move past Hillier (71) and fellow Englishman Laurie Canter (68) for third, one stroke back.
Rory McIlroy (66), seeking a third consecutive tournament title, finished fourth at 12 under behind Denmark’s Niklas Norgaard (66).
Hatton now has eight DP World Tour wins, including the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship (for the third time) in October.
