Bristol, tenn. – Alex Bowman recorded his second pole of the season on Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday.
Bowman will lead the field to the green flag for Sunday’s race to a round of 128,675 km / h. He will be joined in the front row with a shot of 128,563 mph.
Kyle Larson (128.511 mph) qualified third. Denny Hamlin, who goes to his third consecutive cup victory, qualified fourth with a round of 128.460 km / h. Ryan Blaney (128.305) completed the top five.
Drivers saw Tire Wear during Saturday’s training sessions and some expect Sunday’s race to be similar to the race last spring on Bristol when Tire Wear was an important factor.
“I think it’s going to run a lot through the run,” Blaney said. ‘Many guys had cords after 35 rounds, so it would be very important. We will see if we have enough tires for the end of it. ‘
Joey Logano made contact with the wall during his qualifying attempt.
“I just had to push it hard to try to make a quick shot. It got pretty good and I put a little on the apron there and it suspended me. I got so free and then I got into the looser well and hit the wall. The last few times we qualified here in the next Gen Car, it was a kind of sketch to say the least. “
