Four killed in attack in central Kiev, Ukraine says

Four people were killed in a Russian airstrike in Kiev overnight, local authorities said.

The mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschko, said that air defenses are in place around the Ukrainian capital.

Windows were broken in the Shevchenkivskyi district, including at a subway station, and a fire broke out in a non-residential building, he added. It is not clear what the target was.

Authorities warned of the threat of ballistic missiles and asked locals to take shelter.
