Draymond Green surpassed Evan Furniture as a favorite of the NBA’s defensive player’s defense award, but I don’t buy it.
There are multiple layers why Green has surpassed furniture, such as the recent four-game rate of cavaliers that took into account the thunder in Cleveland for the best NBA record, while the Warriors have passed 18-5 since they acquired Jimmy Butler, second in the qualification of the clean clean during this span.
This acquisition of Butler is very important for this race. Prior to trade, the Warriors were 25 to 26 years old, and not a single person said that Green should be the defensive player of the year or that he was second behind Victor Wembanyama before his injury. From the trade, Golden State is 18 to 5 years and in the sixth and final place in Playoff, avoiding the play-in.
Now many experts, and Green himself, are pressing this narrative that their second DPOY should win. I do not think that his self -champion is enough and the late resurgence of the warriors deserves him. Butler is a much greater reason why Golden State is better defensively and wins games. No Green, who was there in the first part of the 25-26 season and almost did not break the top 10-12 in the qualification of the defensive network.
Furniture leads Green in defensive victory shares (3.4 vs 3.0), net rating (108.3 vs 108.9), percentage of defensive rebound (24.3%vs 19.1%), percentage of blocks (4.8%), blocks (106 vs 63) and team success (60-15 vs 43-31). Green leads furniture to thefts (87 vs 53) and fouls (191 vs 129), while it has one of its lowest use rates in years (15.7%) compared to the opposite of furniture (22.6%).
All the bright is not gold and I think the Green DPoy campaign has a lot of glitter. Donate -Mobley between +110 and +130 Probability to win their first prize.
Pick: Evan Furniture to win the defensive player of the year (1U)
