Fundora-Spence is not happening, Fundora Vs. Joey Spencer is possible

Error Spence is now off against WBC/WBO 154-lb champion Sebastian Fundora. The two were supposed to fight on March 29, but the WBO decided not to sanction the contest.

Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) could face Joey Spencer (19-1, 13 KOs) next. Spencer is not ranked at 154, so it is questionable whether the WBO would sanction that fight. Lance Pugmire is reporting that Fundora is likely to defend against Spencer. It’s not a great fight, but there isn’t much time to choose an opponent before March.

There is no Spence

In the year It’s a good thing Spence is challenging the 6’6″ Fundora for two titles, as he looks washed up from his last fight loss to Terence Crawford on July 29, 2023. At the age of 26, Fundora made his first appearance at 154 AD to strike out after a long layoff.

The following are the reasons why the WBO did not sanction the fight.

– Spence’s 1.5 year layoff
– Loss in the last war
– 154 Not rated.
– He has never fought in the light weight division.

With Crawford’s loss in his previous fight, long layoffs and unmatch at 154, using Spence as Fundora’s opponent was a crazy idea.

He totally didn’t deserve a title shot loss at Fundora, but you could say the same for Terence Crawford’s world title shot against WBA 154-lb champion Israel Madrimov last August. Although Terence did not fight at 154, the fight still happened.

Fans don’t see Fundora as a solid champion, given his last fight against Tim Tzu and his loss to Brian Mendoza. As we recently saw in his third-round playoff loss to Bakram Murtazalev on October 19th, hitting the ball is no big deal.
