Aaron Rodgers knows his future with the Jets depends on the GM, the coach

The Jets are looking for a new GM and head coach. They may end up looking for a new quarterback.

The answer to that question depends on the first one. And their current quarterback knows it.

Appearing on Pat McAfee’s show, Aaron Rodgers explained (via ESPN.com’s Rich Cimini) that he has met with Jets owners Woody and Christopher Johnson about his future, and knows it will depend on the hiring they receive.

“It’s going to come down to the GM and coaching anybody do we all want to dance together or if it’s not in the cards,” Rodgers said.

It’s hard to imagine a new GM and a new coach wanting to do that again with a quarterback whose injury and early-season ineffectiveness contributed greatly to their predecessors’ departures. And it seemed for weeks that Rodgers wanted the Jets to make the first move — and cut the cord.

Then Rodgers will have to decide whether to continue his career elsewhere.
