Hank Lebioda wins season-opening Korn Ferry Tour Bahamas Golf Classic

NASSAU, Bahamas — Hank Lebioda won the season-opening Bahamas Golf Classic on Wednesday for his first Korn Ferry Tour title, defeating SH Kim with a birdie on the first playoff hole.

Lebioda closed with a 4-under 66 to match Kim (63) for a tournament-record 18-under 262 at the Ocean Club course in Atlantis. Lebioda won in his 62nd start on tour.

“I’m just proud, really proud,” said the 31-year-old former Florida player. “A lot of work has gone into preparing for this year and preparing for this event. Fortunately, everything clicked, everything clicked at the right time.”

Davis Shore shot back with a 66. Austin Smotherman finished two shots back, also shooting a 66.

The tournament was the first of two in the Bahamas, with The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic scheduled to begin on Sunday at The Abaco Club.
