A cocky David Benavidez was in a near maniacal state, yelling at WBA ‘regular’ light heavyweight champion David Morrell in a pay screen interview today at the PBC Prime Video PPV on February 1st at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

If this is a hospital situation, the doctors or nurses will go to a Code-graySecurity rushed to the room to calm the agitated patient. Benavidez had a similar look when he shoved Morel without warning during a face-off at a media workout in Miami on Dec. 17. Morel responded by throwing his belt.
Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) said the same things he said in previous interviews leading up to the Feb. 1 fight, renewing his unfounded suspicion of Morel (11-0, 9 KOs) for the 11th time. ) had previously used PEDs and said he would “break his face.” It’s the same tried-and-true thing Benavidez has been saying with nothing fresh in terms of material.
Moderator Ariel Helwani did nothing to moderate the back and forth between the two fighters. Instead, he allowed Benavidez to talk about Morel. This was disappointing to watch and Helwani showed that he is new to this.
An angry, seething Benavidez spoils things by not letting Morel speak. It would have benefited Helwani if he had been decisive and blunted Benavidez by destroying his eloquence. He should have tried to control it by talking about Morel, looking unsure.
What was surprising was how angry Benavidez was and how often he got angry. He took a big swig from his coffee cup. He looked shocked and angry and was in such a state of mind that he was ready to run. This is a clear sign of stress.
Benavidez showed his fear because someone is like that, it means they are afraid and threatened. It is human nature. It’s a good thing Morel isn’t in front of him because it could end up being a fist fight. Morel is the stronger, faster, younger and more skilled of the two, so it could have ended badly for Benavidez.
He seems to be as scared of Morel as he should be, because this guy could ruin his career and ruin a huge million payday by fighting the winner of Artur Beterbiev’s Dmitri Bivol 2 rematch. Benavidez has a lot of money to lose if he is beaten by Morel.
Morel is not impressed

“It won’t happen anymore because we’re going with the drug test,” he said. David Benavidez When asked if he thought Morell was using PEDs. “When we do this camp, we make sure that there is no shady business, and all the fighters are being tested. There can be no cheaters here because we take care of it.”
“I am innocent. I don’t need it,” said Morel
“I’m going to pick you up. “I’m going to break your mouth,” Benavidez said.
“Every time, you say the same thing,” Morel said, referring to Benavidez as a broken record, saying the same thing in every interview without bringing anything new. “You say you’re a Mexican monster. On February 1st, I’m kicking your a***. I promise you.
“I have thought about this many times. I’m going to go in there and do my job, and this fight is not far off,” Benavidez said. “I’m going to go in there and hurt David Morrell as much as possible. It hurt him more than anyone else and it will hurt him more than anyone else.
“He will always remember this fight, and he will never forget David Benavidez after this fight.
“I’m 100% sure I’m going to win this fight. I don’t care which way I win this fight. I know I have all the conditions and skills to go out on February 1 if it’s up to him or the judges,” Morrell said.
“All the talking is done, and I know you’ll see me in your dreams, p****. So, see you soon,” said an angry Benavidez in a final comment.
